Compound archers Martin Damsbo and Erika Jones have been named as World Archery’s athletes of the year. Martin Damsbo achieved medals at World Cup stages before winning the individual grand final in Paris, and collected team gold with Denmark at the World Championships.

Erika Jones regained the world number one rank and took individual and mixed team gold at the World Games, as well as three silver medals in World Cup stages.

The award was recently altered to allow one male and one female archer to win – previously, there had been only one winner.
