NEW Concept X: Target Compound Series by Hoyt

Hoyt’s new series is introduced under the slogan: “Delivering the one thing every shooter has in common: The X ring.” This is the longest riser ever produced by Hoyt (3 inches longer than Stratos), it promises the least rotational translation of any Hoyt target bows. The latter equals better tuning across arrow spines and diameters, allowing more forgiveness to the shooter. Concept X comes with SCTR Cam System with new CDM Mods and SPEC Mods; the former borrows qualities from one of Hoyt’s most winning SVX cam systems and promises maximum efficiency across all parameters; the latter are presented as the ultimate in performance with exacting specifications and +/- .25″ draw length adjustments. Mike Schloesser, one of the greatest active shooters and current World Number 1, had this to say about the new line: “Concept X is the evolution I was looking for in a target platform. The SCTR Cam system is a true game changer. It allows me to dial in my shot in a way that I couldn’t with my previous bows. I instantly connected with this bow!”. If it’s good enough for him…

Concept X comes in three options, The Hoyt Concept X 37, X 40 and the FX. The riser, limb and cam systems are designed to complement each other: riser minimizes rotational translation, the limb system is the most torsionally stable to date, and the SCTR cams – the culmination of two decades of Hoyt Cam & 1/2 and HB cam systems rolled into one. “The Concept X beats the standards you expect from Hoyt.” – say Hoyt. Impressive.

The Concept FX has the same features of 37 and 40 wrapped into a smaller, more nimble, and purpose-built shooting machine for maximum performance for short-draw archers. With a 34″ axle-to-axle length, “Concept FX scales down in size, but up in performance.”

Concept X line is about speed and is the fastest target compound produced by Hoyt, whose tests of the SCTR cams combined with the TXL limbs, gave speeds of 330 fps in the Concept X 37 and 327 fps in the Concept X 40. Optimized for performance at short draw lengths, Concept FX produced 332 fps at its maximum 29.5” draw length. Further feedback of the Concept X line revealed that it provides the quietest and softest shooting compared to all other Hoyt target bows: “Shooters experience a sound reduction of 27% compared to Stratos with SVX cams, and 13% when compared to Stratos with HBT cams. The vibration has also been reduced by 35%. This is largely accomplished due to cam and limb design, but the riser design also plays a part in reducing residual vibrations. It’s important to note that the classic target bow feedback has not gone away.” – Hoyt.

This new line comes with Hoyt’s patented Modular Grip System, allowing archers to choose between grip plates at 0 (standard), 4- or 8-degree angled grip plates, along with a version of each grip angle in a plate that reduces draw length by 1/8″, allowing for further fine tune of individual draw length without changing the tune of the bow.

Additionally, two more colour options are added to the Hoyt line, the colour-changing Skeeter, and the classy Blue on Black; matte powder coat colours are available in the following options: Blackout, Bourbon, Tombstone, and Wilderness. Bourbon and Wilderness are out top picks!

Lastly, we think it is great that the Concept X line offers a variety of limb options: black satin, white gloss, and black gloss. Preliminary tests have a lot of good to say, and we think there is more to come from this line.
